Torrents are downloadable files from the internet.
Torrents can take many forms:
Music
Video
Games
Applications
Programs
PrOn
To download them from the internet you would need a Torrent Client e.g. Bit Comet, U Torrent.
Once the client application is downloaded and installed on your home pc, you can search a list of torrent sites for whatever it is you want.
I like to use
http://www.piratebay.orgIts a little outdated but has been my fave for years
Basically find the file you want to download and CHECK THE COMMENTS TO SEE HOW PEOPLE RATE THE FILE AS TO HOW CLEAN IT IS!
IF people give it a good rep then chances are its safe BUT ALWAYS RUN IT THROUGH A VIRUS SCAN TO BE SURE.
*A hint when searching for files*
Whilst searching for files please take note of the Seeds and Leecher numbers (High Seed numbers make for fast downloads and low Seed and high Leech numbers make for slow downloads)
If using a wireless router you may need to configure your listening ports.
This means that through a router that sometimes your connection only listens for traffic and this can slow down your downloads, but we can cross that bridge when we come to it.
Also on your settings its reccomended to set a maxium level of sharing of your files (download speeds are preportionate to your upload speeds) That just means if you share a little, you get a little bit back!
